The body knows more than we give it credit for.
Exploring the quiet intelligence of the body through Chinese medicine, modern physiology and twenty years of clinical observation.
From birth doula to Death Walker. Lisa Dominey is the woman in many of the photographs on this website, and her story is about ageing, the body we live in, and being ready at 58 for work that matters.
A look at the Lightbody, the interconnected field of physical, energetic and emotional systems that acupuncture, Chinese medicine and sound healing all engage with, each in its own way. Drawn from a live Q&A with Sonic Harmony Sound Healing, this piece covers group energy fields, altered states, trauma and dissociation, and what this work can honestly offer for addiction, and where its limits are.
Steven Booth's account of how a back injury at twenty, one that made stairs impossible, led him into a twenty-year career in Chinese medicine. This piece explores what actually happens in a treatment: the physiology of needling, the real history behind "Traditional" Chinese Medicine, pulse diagnosis, the five elements, and why a good treatment can open an altered state.
Short notes from Steven’s community clinic in Mullumbimby.
The virus has gone and the cough hasn’t. In Chinese medicine the Lungs guard the edge between you and the world, and after a fight they need feeding, not pushing. Warm food, soups, early nights, and time.
People rarely book acupuncture for grief. It arrives as a tight shoulder, a cough, a chest that won’t fill. Where grief sits in the body, why Chinese medicine gives it to the Lungs, and what forty quiet minutes can do.
Why people sleep badly before a storm breaks, and the two acupuncture points at the knee Steven kept returning to that day: Spring at the Bend and Yin Valley. In Chinese medicine water feeds wood. When the mind is racing, you don’t rein it in, you deepen the reserves it runs on.
